Freelance Toy Designer (remote project-based)

Company Description

Playmodo Design is a toy design studio located in Mid-Michigan. We specialize in designing for toy manufacturers, consumer goods, and entertainment companies. With over a decade of design experience, we have worked with renowned brands such as Paw Patrol, Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Gabby’s Dollhouse, Mighty Express, Star Wars, DC, and Minecraft. Our diverse range of services includes ideation sketches, product and entertainment design renderings, control drawings, and flow charts.

Role Description

This is a project-based freelance toy designer. As a toy designer, you will be responsible for creating innovative toy designs, developing product concepts, creating detailed control drawings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. This role requires strong creativity and attention to detail. A project-based freelancer is not employed directly by Playmodo Design, and is not eligible for company benefits. This opportunity is open to remote work only. We are actively seeking freelancers with on-going availability to support current and future projects. If not selected, your submission will remain for future consideration as new projects are continuously arising.

Qualifications

  • Portfolio demonstrating ideation and technical skills

  • Proficiency in 2D drawing software (Photoshop and Illustrator)

  • Strong sketching and rendering skills

  • Highly self-motivated individuals

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment

  • Capable of meeting tight deadlines

  • Experience in toy, product design, or entertainment design

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials

  • Ability to transform ideas from concept to production

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Education And Experience

  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Illustration, Toy Design or a related field (not required)

  • 1-2 years of design experience
